DOMINIC LAKE
Elev. 1524 m. (4999 ft.)

Dominic Lake Is located 4 km (2.5 ml) south of Dairy Lake. and 40 km (25
ml) southwest of Kamloops. Access (south) is via the Logan Lake exit from
Highway 5. or the Greenstone Mountain branch off the Cherry Creek road
(north). A car Is usually adequate for Dominic Lake, but a truck Is
recommended during wet conditions. The lake Is 36 ha (90 ac) In size. and
Is stocked annually with rainbow trout. It Is subject to drawdown from
Irrigation, but due to Its high elevation It usually provides a good
fishery all summer. There are no developed public facilities, but a resort
Is present.

ABBOTT LAKE
Abbott Lake Is located 45 km (28 ml) northwest of Merritt. Access is via
secondary road off Highway 8. at either Lower Nicola or Dot. Either way a
4x4 is recommended. The lake Is 15 ha (36 ac) In size and provides good
fishing for rainbow trout to 1.5 kg throughout the open water season.
Cartop boats can be launched, and a small BCFS recreation site provides
rustic camping facilities.
BARNES LAKE Elev. 700m
Barnes Lake Is located 8 km (5 mi) southeast of Ashcroft. Access Is by car
via a short section of secondary road (1 km/0.5 ml) off the main road to
Logan Lake at a point 7 km (4.5 ml) south of Ashcroft. The lake Is 53 ha
(130 ac) In size. and is stocked annually with rainbow trout. It Is best
fished in the spring, immediately after break-up, when it offers good
shore fishing opportunities. Use of the lake for irrigation generally
results In low water levels during summer. Cartop boats can be launched,
and a small BCFS recreation site provides for camping.
BILLY LAKE
This remote lake Is located 45 km (28 ml) north of Merritt. Access Is via
secondary roads north from Lower Nicola. Road conditions are rough in
places, and a 4x4 is required. Billy Lake Is 24 ha (60 ac) in size. And
provides good summer fishing for rainbow trout to 2 kg. Cartop boats can
be launched.
BLUE LAKE Elev. 1372m
This picturesque lake is located 30 km. (19 mi) .southwest of Ashcroft.
Access is via secondary road off Highway 1 - 8 km south of Ashcroft. A car
.is adequate. Blue Earth Lake is 14 ha (35 ac) in area, and provides a
good highly used summer fishery for rainbow trout to 1 kg. Cartop boats
can be launched, and a small BCFS recreation site provides for camping.
BOSE Lake Elev. 1280m
Bose Lake is located 28 km (17.5 ml) west of Logan Lake. Access Is east on
secondary roads off the main road to Ashcroft. at Highland Valley. The
final 5 km (3 ml) of road is rough, and a 4x4 may be required during wet
conditions. The lake Is 29 ha (72 ac) In size. and provides good
flyfishing for rainbow trout to 1.5 kg. Cartop boats-can-be launched, and
a small BCFS recreation site provides for camping.
CALLING LAKE Elevation
1610 m. (5281 ft.) Ice Over
November to late May
2 rustic campsites. Calling Lake Is located 31 km (19 ml) west of
Logan Lake. Access Is west on secondary roads off the main road to
Ashcroft at Highland Valley. The last 5 km (3 ml) is rough.. and a truck
Is recommended. Calling Lake Is 30 ha (75 ac) In size. It Is subject to
periodic winterkill and summer drawdown from Irrigation. Nonetheless, It
provides a good spring fishery for rainbow trout to 1.0 kg+. Fishing may
also be good In summer If drawdown Is not excessive. Cartop boats can be
launched, and a BCFS campsite Is available at Island Lake (Big O.K. Lake)
nearby.
DAIRY LAKE Elevation: 1380 m (4528 ft.)
Ice Over November to mid May
Dairy Lake Is located 39 km (24 mi] west of Kamloops. Dairy Lake, a
small lake 25 ha. (62 ac.) with an elevation of located just north of
Dominic Lake . Access Is via Highway 1 to secondary road at Cherry Creek 8
km (5 ml) west of the Interchange with Highway 5. A truck is recommended.
The lake is 26 ha (65 ac) In size. and Is stocked annually with rainbow
trout. It Is subject to winterkill and drawdown due to Irrigation, but can
provide a good summer fishery for trout to 1.5 kg. 2 BCFS campsites with a
total of 13 vehicle sites and cartop boat launching.
PASKA LAKE
From
Kamloops travel west on the Trans Canada (hwy #1) for 11.4 kms. (7.1
miles), turn south onto the Coquihalla (hwy #5). Take exit 336 and turn
west (right) on the Lac la Jeune road heading south to Surrey lake, you
will come to the Paska lake road. Turn north (right) on this road and
drive for about
12 km. (7.2 miles) to the lake.
FACE LAKE
Face Lake is located just minutes to the north of Paska. It
also offers a very good fishery for rainbows up to 3 lbs.
There is 1 resort on Face and also a small, treed 10 vehicle BCFS
campsite with cartop boat launch.
DUFFY LAKE Elev. 1160 m. (3805 ft.) ice over
November to early May
Duffy Lake Is located 4 km (2.5 ml) northwest of Dairy Lake. and 32 km (20
ml) west of Kamloops. Access Is as described for Daily Lake but a car
should be adequate. Duffy Lake Is 23 ha (58 ac) In size. and is stocked
annually with rainbow trout It Is a good family lake. and provides a fair
fishery for trout to 1.5 kg throughout the open water season. Cartop boats
can be launched. 23 ha. (57 ac.) in size - considered an excellent
family lake with stocked rainbows up to 3 lbs. A semi-open 30 vehicle BCFS
campsite that is motorhome accessible can be found on the lake.
Cartop boat launching is available.
GORDON LAKE Elev. 1402m

Gordon Lake is located 3 km (2 mi) southeast of Abbott Lake. and 42 km (26
ml) northwest of Merritt. Access is as described for Abbott Lake. but
conditions are extremely rough (4x4 necessary). Gordon Lake Is 28 ha (70
ac) in size. Due to shallow depth, best fishing occurs during spring and
fall for rainbow trout to 1.5 kg. Cartop boats can be launched, and a
small BCFS recreation site provides for camping.
- GYPSUM LAKE Elev. 1433

Gypsum Lake Is located 7 km (4.5 ml) southeast of Billy Lake and 33 km
(20.5 ml) north of Merritt.
Access Is north from Lower Nicola, and as for Billy Lake.
A 4x4 is recommended. Gypsum Lake Is 12 ha (30 ac) In size.
Provides a fishery for rainbow to 1 kg. Best fishing occurs during the
spring and fall.
Cartop boats can be launched, and a small BCFS recreation site provides
limited camping.
ISLAND LAKE (Big O.K. Lake) Elev. 1524m
Island Lake Is located 30 km (19 ml) west of Logan Lake. on the way to
Calling and O.K. lakes. Access Is as described for Calling Lake. The last
0.7 km (0.5 ml) may be rough, and a truck is recommended. Island Lake Is
24 ha (60 ac) In size. and Is managed as a quality water. It provides a
catch-and-release fishery for rainbow trout to 2.5 kg. with best fishing
during spring and fall. Cartop boats can be launched, and a small BCFS
recreation site provides for rustic camping.

LEIGHTON LAKE Elev.
1135m
Lake 50 ha. (124 ac.) located 14 km (9 ml) north of Logan Lake via the
road to Savona (up Guichon Creek) and a car is adequate. The lake is 53 ha
(131 ac) In size, and is subject to both winterkill and summer drawdown
from Irrigation. It is best fished In spring and fall for rainbow to 1.5
kg. A large BCFS recreation site provides for camping and launching of
cartop boats.located at the north end of Tunkwa. Leighton is a
terrific fishing lake. Leighton has many shallow bays, flats and 2 small
islands on it's east side, making it a fly fishers dream.

LODGEPOLE LAKE
Elev. 1433m
This small lake (6.5 ha/16 ac) Is located 30 km (19 ml) southwest of
Kamloops. Access is via a short section of secondary road (to Chuwels
Mountain) off the old route from Kamloops to Logan Lake. and a car is
adequate. An alternate route is via the Lac Le Jeune exit from Highway 5.
Lodgepole Lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout which provide a
catch of fish to 1 kg+. Due to the lake's elevation. the fishery can be
good throughout the open water season. Cartop boats can be launched, and a
small BCFS recreation site provides limited camping. (Special restriction:

MAMIT LAKE
Elev. 630m Map 3(16)
This relatively large lake (182 ha/450 ac) is located 25 km (15.5 mi)
north of Merritt. Access is via the old route from Merritt to Logan Lake
and is entirely paved. Mamit Lake Is not stocked, but nonetheless provides
a fair fishery for rainbow trout to 1 kg throughout the open water season.
It also provides a winter (Ice) fishery for burbot. There are no developed
facilities, but cartop boats can be launched.
NORMAN LAKE Elev. 1402m

This small lake (9.5 ha/23 ac) is located immediately east (0.5 km) of
Dairy Lake. 40 km (25 ml) west of Kamloops. Closest road access is via
Dominic Lake. and a 4x4 may be required for the final 4 km (2.5 mD. Norman
Lake Is subject to winterkill, but can provide good spring and fall
fishing for rainbow trout to 1 leg. There are no developed facilities, but
cartop boats can be launched.
O.K LAKE Elev. 1616m Map 3(18)
This small (8 ha/20 ac) high elevation lake Is located near Calling Lake
33 km (20.5 ml) west of Logan Lake. Access Is by rough road beyond Calling
Lake. and a 4x4 Is required. O.K. Lake is stocked annually with rainbow
trout, which provide a good catch of fish to 2 kg. Best fishing occurs
during spring to mid-summer and the fall. No facilities have been
developed, but cartop boats can be launched.
SIX MILE LAKE (Pat Lake) Elev. 600m
Six Mile Lake Is located 13 km (8 ml) east of Savona. Access is via a
short section (3 km/2 ml) of secondary road off Highway 1. 10 km (6 mi)
east of Savona. and a car is adequate. The lake is 10 ha (23 ac) in size.
and is stocked annually with rainbow trout. It is subject to drawdown from
Irrigation during summer, but provides good spring and fall fishing for
trout to 1.5 kg. Lake users are asked to respect the private ownership of
land around the lake. and to close all gates. This lake Is for day use
only.

TUNKWA LAKE Elev. 1144
m. (3752.3 ft.) Ice Over November to mid May
Tunkwa is situated on the Thompson Plateau amongst rolling hills of thick
pine stands and open meadows. Large lake (296 ha/731 ac) is located
immediately beside Leighton Lake. 14 km (9 ml) north of Logan Lake. Access
is off the road to Savona and a car is adequate. Although
Tunkwa Lake is subject to drawdown from Irrigation, it can support a fair
summer fishery for rainbow trout to 3 kg. Best fishing, however, is during
the spring and fall. Both a large BCFS recreation site and a resort are
present Cartop boats can be launched. (Special restriction: consult

TYNER LAKE Elev. 134m Map

Tyner Lake Is located near Abbott and Gordon lakes, 30 km (19 km)
northwest of Merritt. Access is via secondary roads from Lower Nicola, as
for Abbott Lake. and a truck should be adequate. If approaching from
Gordon Lake however, a 4x4 is recommended. Tyner Lake is 24 ha (60 ac) in
size and provides a fishery for rainbow trout to 1.5 kg. Best fishing
occurs during the spring and fall. Cartop boats can be launched, and a
small BCFS recreation site provides limited camping.
Fishing Report: Tyner is a shallow,
weedy lake best suited to fly fishing. Late June, early July is the time
to be on the lake for a great Caddisfly hatch. Other good hatches include
Damselflies and Mayflies. Tyner was stocked with 3000 Rainbow in 1995 and
provides a good fishery for Rainbows up to 3+ lbs. Tyner is susceptible
to winterkill and local information from the Kamloops Fish and Wildlife
Department is recommended.
